Soul Care (Part 1)

"The soul has often been deemed integral or essential to consciousness and personality, and may be synonymous with spirit, mind or self."  And yet, many in today's culture have little time to nurture their soul.  The noise of each person's life has somehow become a necessity and often drowns out the heart cry of the soul.  Habits and routines are so engrained, that unless caring for one's soul is a conscious thought, it doesn't even make the "to do" list.  Tragic as this may appear to some, it can be changed.

Change begins with a stretch. When a muscle in the body is overworked and tight, it is best to slowly stretch and relax the muscle before working it again.  This action may be uncomfortable but it is necessary.  Unless the muscle is relaxed/loose, it cannot perform at its fullest ability and/or is subject to injury.  To begin to change and focus on caring for your soul, it will mandate some stretching.  For the next six days, find 10 minutes each day and focus on Soul Care.  Here are some thoughts for the 10 minutes to jump start the stretching:  total quiet, focus on a key word, disengage your mind, anticipate, etc.  On the 7th day, do something that is out of your comfort zone.  It can be silly, funny, etc.!  Maybe it's skipping down the sidewalk in your neighborhood or going shopping with big clown sunglasses on!

At the end of the seven days, if you have truly experienced a stretch, you will be ready for part 2!
